Below is a list of questions and answers of some frequently asked questions.

Q: When and where can I register for classes?
A:
Registration takes place at the Adult Education Center in Hartford located at 110 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06103 on Monday through Thursday as follows:

8:30 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.

 

Q: What do I need to bring to register for class?
A:

You need a photo I.D. (for example: Driver’s License) and proof that you live in Hartford (for example: lease, mortgage statement, utility bill (electricity, gas, telephone). WE DO NOT ASK FOR ANY IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS.
Q: What happens during registration?
A:
Our personnel will help you fill out an application, ask you a few questions about your goals, and give you a test in reading, math (listening for ESL) to determine in which level and class you should be placed. The registration and testing takes about two hours.
Q: What do I have to bring to class each day? A: You should bring a pen, pencil, and a notebook.
Q: Is there chilcare available?
A:
Yes. Call 695-5840 for information about our Child Care Center.
GED

Q: What is the GED?
A:
The GED is a program that prepares you take the GED test and obtain a GED high school diploma. The GED test has five parts: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Q: How can I prepare for the GED test?
A:
You can prepare for the GED test by attending our free classes each day and by taking the Offical GED Practice Test each Friday morning. The Official GED Practice Test tell you if you are ready to take the real GED test and pass.


Q: When is the next GED test?
No, you can take the parts of the GED test at different sittings.

Q:What is NEDP?
A: The NEDP is a program that grants ou high school credit for your life experiences. Once you complete all the requirements of the NEDP, you will obtain a NEDP high school diploma.

 


Q: How do I register for NEDP?
A:When you come to our registration center, tell the registeration official that you areinterested in the NEDP program.


Q:When are the classes for the NEDP?
A:The NEDP is designed to meet your schedule needs. You arrange an appointment, convenient to you, with one of our NEDP assessors. Your session will be one-on-one with your NEDP assessor. For additional information, please contact Ms. Beverly LeConche, Lead NEDP Assessor, at 1-860-695-5904.

Q: What classes do you offer in English as a Second Language?
A:
We offer three levels: Beginning, Intermediatem and Advanced. These classes help you learnto speak, read, write, and understand English.
For cancellations due to inclement weather, students my call the district at 695-SNOW.

A: Yes, but you have to wait 120 days in order to re-take a part that you failed.
Q: What happens if I fail the GED? Can I take it again?
